Your day now ends at your midnight, on every report

A shop owner in Honolulu wrote in: Saturday’s finance email said $0.00 in sales and $18.37 in sales tax. How can there be tax without a sale? There can’t. The tax belonged to a card sale on Friday at 3:32 PM. Our report dated sales by the shop’s day and tax by a worldwide clock that runs ten hours ahead of Hawaii, so anything sold after 2:00 PM there had its tax put on the next day.

When we pulled the thread, the same clock was behind “today” and “this month” in several places. For a shop on the East Coast the day turned at 8:00 PM; for Hawaii, at 2:00 PM. Most shops are closed by then, which is why it took a shop that stays open late in the afternoon, far west, to notice. It’s fixed, for everyone, and your day now ends when your location’s clock says it does.

Analytics → Financial · Scheduled emails · Export

A sale and its tax land on the same day

The finance export, and the scheduled finance emails built from it, now date tax by your store’s day, exactly like sales and refunds, so a sale paid the day it is placed shows its tax on that day. (An invoice paid on a later day still shows its tax on the day it was issued, as before.) The daily email for a day with nothing in it still arrives, so your bookkeeper can rely on one email per day, and now it says so in words: “No sales, refunds or tax were recorded on this day.”

The Tax collected figure beside the Export button follows the same days, so it always matches the file.

What you need to do

Nothing. If your bookkeeper has already filed a month from the old report, the difference is the tax on that month’s last-afternoon sales, which is now in the right month.

Dashboard · Analytics

“Today” and “this month” are your location’s

Completed Today and Today’s Appointments count your store’s day, and the appointments tile no longer shows tomorrow’s appointments once the worldwide clock has turned.

This month and last month on the dashboard and across the Analytics pages are your store’s months. Last month also had a quieter bug: it stopped counting at the start of its last day, so the final day of every month was missing from “Last month”. It isn’t any more.

What you need to do

Nothing. If you compared this month to last month before, expect last month to be a little higher now, by its final day.

Commerce → Registers

Register history filters by your days

The From and To dates on the register session list now mean your store’s days. A drawer opened in the afternoon was listed under the next day for shops west of the East Coast.

What you need to do

Nothing.
