Software for camera repair shops

Ticket workflow automation and a fully integrated point of sale, in one system.

A camera repair can wait three weeks for a part, and the owner may have a wedding booked. Spekco keeps the estimate, the part and the promised date on one ticket, and lets the customer see progress without a phone call.

Workflow automation

You do the repair. The ticket does the telling.

One camera, from the counter to the register. Five things you did, and no message typed.

  • On a long repair, Spekco can send progress updates by itself, so the customer does not have to call and ask.
  • Finish a repair now and schedule the status change: the ticket moves, and the customer is told, at the time you choose.
  • Every notification is included on every plan. There is no charge per message.
  • On Pro, the follow-up runs too: a message after the repair, a reminder when service is due, and an invitation to customers who have not been back.
  1. 1. You pick your Shutter Replacement template

The ticket fills in with its parts, labor and checklist. The customer is emailed that you have their camera, with a page where they can follow it.

  2. 2. You set the status to Waiting on Parts

They are told you are waiting on the shutter unit.

  3. 3. You send the estimate

They approve it online, and the approval is recorded on the ticket.

  4. 4. You set the status to Ready for Pickup

They are told their camera is ready.

  5. 5. You take the payment at the register

    They are emailed a receipt.

Integrated point of sale

One register for the repair and the sale

A sensor cleaning and a spare battery are one sale, on one receipt.

  • The repair is paid at the same register that sells your products. There is no second system, and nothing is typed twice.
  • A part fitted on a repair and a product sold at the counter come off the same stock count.
  • From the ticket, one button takes you to the register with the balance already in the sale.

Batteries, memory cards, straps, filters and used equipment sell from the same register as the repair.

The register is on every plan. How the register works →

What to write down at the counter

Whatever you use to run your shop, record these before the customer leaves.

  • The body and each lens, with serial numbers
  • Shutter count, if known
  • What came with it: caps, straps, batteries, memory cards
  • Marks on the glass and the body, with photos
  • The fault, and when it happens
  • The date the customer needs it by

How a job runs in Spekco

Step 1

A ticket for each item

Give the body and each lens its own ticket under the same customer, each with its serial number. Each has its own estimate and its own status, and nothing comes back to the counter without a record of whose it is.

Step 2

Long repairs need updates

When a part is weeks away, post an update on the ticket. The customer reads it in their portal and gets an email, and you take one less call.

Step 3

Repairs by mail

Spekco has a mail-in workflow: the customer sends the camera with a shipping label, you scan it in on arrival, and the return shipment is tracked.

Pickup, delivery and dispatch

For the work that does not walk in the door.

Pickup

You collect the item from the customer's address. Spekco checks the address against your service radius and adds the fee to the ticket, flat or per mile.

Delivery

The repaired item goes back to the customer's door in a delivery window you set. The customer can choose the time from a link.

Dispatch

A technician goes to the customer, for a trip fee you set. The customer is asked to confirm the visit, reminded the day before, and told when the technician is on the way, with an arrival time.

All three are on Pro, and each is a setting you turn on for the locations that offer it.

On every plan

  • Service tickets and workflow
  • Point of sale register
  • Customer portal with ticket tracking
  • Online estimate approval and invoice payment
  • Parts and inventory
  • Automated email notifications

The plan that usually fits

Basic, $29.99 a month

A specialist bench with one or two people fits Basic: 25 tickets a month included, then $0.20 each.

What it does not do

Spekco has no manufacturer's parts catalog built in. You add the parts you stock, or import them from a spreadsheet.

Questions

A customer left a body and two lenses. Is that one ticket?
Three. A ticket is for one item, so each has its own serial number, estimate and status. All three are listed on the customer's record and in their portal.
Can I take a deposit before ordering an expensive part?
Yes. A deposit is taken against the ticket, and the balance is due when the customer collects.
Can a customer approve an estimate without coming in?
Yes. The estimate is emailed, and they approve or decline it online.
