Workflow automation
You do the repair. The ticket does the telling.
One guitar, from the counter to the register. Five things you did, and no message typed.
- On a long repair, Spekco can send progress updates by itself, so the customer does not have to call and ask.
- Finish a repair now and schedule the status change: the ticket moves, and the customer is told, at the time you choose.
- Every notification is included on every plan. There is no charge per message.
- On Pro, the follow-up runs too: a message after the repair, a reminder when service is due, and an invitation to customers who have not been back.
1. You pick your Guitar Setup template
The ticket fills in with its parts, labor and checklist. The customer is emailed that you have their guitar, with a page where they can follow it.
2. You set the status to Waiting on Parts
They are told you are waiting on a set of tuners.
3. You send the estimate
They approve it online, and the approval is recorded on the ticket.
4. You set the status to Ready for Pickup
They are told their guitar is ready.
5. You take the payment at the register
They are emailed a receipt.
Integrated point of sale
One register for the repair and the sale
A setup and two sets of strings are one sale, on one receipt.
- The repair is paid at the same register that sells your products. There is no second system, and nothing is typed twice.
- A part fitted on a repair and a product sold at the counter come off the same stock count.
- From the ticket, one button takes you to the register with the balance already in the sale.
Strings, reeds, picks, straps and cables sell from the same register as the repair.
The register is on every plan. How the register works →
The jobs you take in

What to write down at the counter
Whatever you use to run your shop, record these before the customer leaves.
- Make, model and serial number
- The case and what is in it: mouthpiece, strap, bow
- Marks on the finish, with photos
- String gauge and tuning wanted
- How much the owner will spend before you must call
- The date it is needed by
How a job runs in Spekco
Step 1
Sorted by the date it is needed
Give each ticket its promised date and sort the bench queue by it. The guitar for Friday's gig is not behind the one with no deadline.
Step 2
An estimate the owner approves
Send the estimate by email. The owner approves or declines online, and a refret that turns out to need a new nut goes back to them the same way.
Step 3
Photos of the finish
Attach photos at check-in. A ding that came in with the instrument is on the ticket before it reaches the bench.
Pickup, delivery and dispatch
For the work that does not walk in the door.
Pickup
You collect the item from the customer's address. Spekco checks the address against your service radius and adds the fee to the ticket, flat or per mile.
Delivery
The repaired item goes back to the customer's door in a delivery window you set. The customer can choose the time from a link.
Dispatch
A technician goes to the customer, for a trip fee you set. The customer is asked to confirm the visit, reminded the day before, and told when the technician is on the way, with an arrival time.
All three are on Pro, and each is a setting you turn on for the locations that offer it.
On every plan
- Service tickets and workflow
- Point of sale register
- Customer portal with ticket tracking
- Online estimate approval and invoice payment
- Parts and inventory
- Automated email notifications
The plan that usually fits
Basic, $29.99 a month
A repair bench with one or two people fits Basic: 25 tickets a month included, then $0.20 each. A store with more staff wants Pro.
What it does not do
Spekco does not run instrument rentals. It has no rental contracts and no rent-to-own billing.
Questions
- Can I service a school's instruments as one customer?
- Yes. The school is the customer and each instrument is its own ticket, so each has its own estimate and status.
- Can I record what is in the case?
- Yes. Add a field for it, or list it in the intake notes.
- Can the owner see when it is ready?
- Yes. Every ticket has a status page in the customer portal, and they are emailed when the status changes.
