Software for bike repair shops

Ticket workflow automation and a fully integrated point of sale, in one system.

A bike shop is a workshop and a store under one roof, and in spring both are full. Spekco runs the service tickets and the register together, so a tune-up and a new helmet are one sale.

Workflow automation

You do the repair. The ticket does the telling.

One bike, from the counter to the register. Five things you did, and no message typed.

  • On a long repair, Spekco can send progress updates by itself, so the customer does not have to call and ask.
  • Finish a repair now and schedule the status change: the ticket moves, and the customer is told, at the time you choose.
  • Every notification is included on every plan. There is no charge per message.
  • On Pro, the follow-up runs too: a message after the repair, a reminder when service is due, and an invitation to customers who have not been back.
  1. 1. You pick your Tune-Up template

The ticket fills in with its parts, labor and checklist. The customer is emailed that you have their bike, with a page where they can follow it.

  2. 2. You set the status to Waiting on Parts

They are told you are waiting on a cassette.

  3. 3. You send the estimate

They approve it online, and the approval is recorded on the ticket.

  4. 4. You set the status to Ready for Pickup

They are told their bike is ready.

  5. 5. You take the payment at the register

    They are emailed a receipt.

Integrated point of sale

One register for the repair and the sale

A tune-up, two tubes and a helmet are one sale, on one receipt.

  • The repair is paid at the same register that sells your products. There is no second system, and nothing is typed twice.
  • A part fitted on a repair and a product sold at the counter come off the same stock count.
  • From the ticket, one button takes you to the register with the balance already in the sale.

Tubes, tires, helmets, lights and locks sell from the same register as the service work.

The register is on every plan. How the register works →

The jobs you take in

  • Tune-ups
  • Flat repair
  • Wheel truing and wheel builds
  • Brake bleeds and pad replacement
  • Drivetrain replacement
  • Suspension service
  • New bike builds
  • Boxing a bike for shipping

What to write down at the counter

Whatever you use to run your shop, record these before the customer leaves.

  • Make, model, color and frame serial number
  • The service asked for
  • What is left on the bike: lights, computer, bags, lock
  • Cracks or dents in the frame, with a photo
  • How much extra work you may do before calling
  • The pickup date you promised

How a job runs in Spekco

Step 1

Your service menu, one tap each

Save a basic tune-up and a full overhaul as templates, each with its parts, its labor and its checklist. Check-in is choosing the template and adding the bike.

Step 2

Call before the extra work, in writing

When a tune-up turns into a new chain and cassette, send a revised estimate. The customer approves it online and the approval is on the ticket.

Step 3

Tubes and chains counted for you

Parts used on a repair and parts sold over the counter come out of the same stock. You are warned when tubes run low, before a Saturday.

Pickup, delivery and dispatch

For the work that does not walk in the door.

Pickup

You collect the item from the customer's address. Spekco checks the address against your service radius and adds the fee to the ticket, flat or per mile.

Delivery

The repaired item goes back to the customer's door in a delivery window you set. The customer can choose the time from a link.

Dispatch

A technician goes to the customer, for a trip fee you set. The customer is asked to confirm the visit, reminded the day before, and told when the technician is on the way, with an arrival time.

All three are on Pro, and each is a setting you turn on for the locations that offer it.

On every plan

  • Service tickets and workflow
  • Point of sale register
  • Customer portal with ticket tracking
  • Online estimate approval and invoice payment
  • Parts and inventory
  • Automated email notifications

The plan that usually fits

Pro, $59.99 a month

A shop with a mechanic, a counter and a spring rush usually wants Pro: 250 tickets a month included, 25 staff accounts, and appointments so drop-offs are spread across the week. Basic covers two people and 25 tickets.

What it does not do

Spekco has no link to a bicycle distributor's catalog. You add the products you stock, or import them from a spreadsheet.

Questions

Can I sell bikes and accessories as well as service?
Yes. The register is on every plan and sells products and takes service payments in one sale.
Can customers book a tune-up online?
On Pro, yes. Pro has appointments, and a booking widget you can put on your own website.
Can I record frame serial numbers?
Yes. Add the serial number as a field on the ticket. It stays on the customer's record.
