Software for game console repair shops

Ticket workflow automation and a fully integrated point of sale, in one system.

Console repair is board-level work on something a customer wants back by the weekend. Spekco records what came in, what it will cost and when it is done, and keeps the customer told.

Workflow automation

You do the repair. The ticket does the telling.

One console, from the counter to the register. Five things you did, and no message typed.

  • On a long repair, Spekco can send progress updates by itself, so the customer does not have to call and ask.
  • Finish a repair now and schedule the status change: the ticket moves, and the customer is told, at the time you choose.
  • Every notification is included on every plan. There is no charge per message.
  • On Pro, the follow-up runs too: a message after the repair, a reminder when service is due, and an invitation to customers who have not been back.
  1. 1. You pick your HDMI Port Repair template

The ticket fills in with its parts, labor and checklist. The customer is emailed that you have their console, with a page where they can follow it.

  2. 2. You set the status to Waiting on Parts

They are told you are waiting on the port.

  3. 3. You send the estimate

They approve it online, and the approval is recorded on the ticket.

  4. 4. You set the status to Ready for Pickup

They are told their console is ready.

  5. 5. You take the payment at the register

    They are emailed a receipt.

Integrated point of sale

One register for the repair and the sale

An HDMI repair and a second controller are one sale, on one receipt.

  • The repair is paid at the same register that sells your products. There is no second system, and nothing is typed twice.
  • A part fitted on a repair and a product sold at the counter come off the same stock count.
  • From the ticket, one button takes you to the register with the balance already in the sale.

Controllers, cables, cases and refurbished consoles sell from the same register as the repair.

The register is on every plan. How the register works →

The jobs you take in

  • HDMI port replacement
  • Controller stick drift
  • Disc drive repair
  • Overheating and fan cleaning
  • Power supply replacement
  • Handheld screen replacement
  • Liquid damage
  • Storage upgrades

What to write down at the counter

Whatever you use to run your shop, record these before the customer leaves.

  • Console model and serial number
  • What came with it: controllers, cables, memory cards
  • Whether a disc is still in the drive
  • Whether saves are backed up or in the cloud
  • Whether the warranty seal is intact or already broken
  • The fault in the customer's words

How a job runs in Spekco

Step 1

Photograph it before you open it

Attach photos of the shell, the ports and the seal to the ticket at check-in. If a scratch is questioned at pickup, the record is already there.

Step 2

Say how long a board repair takes

Send the estimate by email with the price and your turnaround. The customer approves online, and can check the ticket's status themselves instead of calling.

Step 3

Keep the common parts on the shelf

HDMI ports, fans and stick modules are stock items. Each one used on a ticket is taken off your count, and you are warned when a part runs low.

Pickup, delivery and dispatch

For the work that does not walk in the door.

Pickup

You collect the item from the customer's address. Spekco checks the address against your service radius and adds the fee to the ticket, flat or per mile.

Delivery

The repaired item goes back to the customer's door in a delivery window you set. The customer can choose the time from a link.

Dispatch

A technician goes to the customer, for a trip fee you set. The customer is asked to confirm the visit, reminded the day before, and told when the technician is on the way, with an arrival time.

All three are on Pro, and each is a setting you turn on for the locations that offer it.

On every plan

  • Service tickets and workflow
  • Point of sale register
  • Customer portal with ticket tracking
  • Online estimate approval and invoice payment
  • Parts and inventory
  • Automated email notifications

The plan that usually fits

Basic, $29.99 a month

One bench and one counter fit Basic: two staff accounts and 25 tickets a month included, then $0.20 each. To sell refurbished consoles online you need the online shop, which is on Pro.

What it does not do

Spekco does not value trade-ins. It has no catalog of used console prices; you set what you pay and what you charge.

Questions

Can I note a disc or a memory card left in the console?
Yes. Add a field for it, or write it in the intake notes. It stays on the ticket.
Can I sell refurbished consoles?
Yes, at the register on every plan. Selling them on a website of your own needs the online shop, which is on Pro.
Do you handle repairs sent in by mail?
Yes. Spekco has a mail-in workflow with shipping labels and tracking in both directions.
